Double D's movie reviews episode 1

I saw Sin City over the weekend. I wasn't really excited to see it, but 2 of my friends had seen it before and liked it so much they said they would see it again with me. It suprised me how many big names were in it, many of which had relatively small roles. I liked the film noir feel, but with a modern twist. It was also appealing how the movie reflected the comic book/graphic novel visual style with most of it in black and white with minimal color interspersed. When it comes out on DVD I think I might buy it.

Choose and/or lose

Why is it you can see a relationship that will be a trainwreck miles ahead of those involved? Intuition? Foresight? Impartiality, or avoidance by the parties involved? A woman I work with is engaged. She had an accomplishment that was recognized by the organization I work for. They took her out for lunch and drinks, which lasted the whole afternoon. I show up a little after 5pm, so much drinking has ensued. The woman with the kudos is enjoying herself, but her fiance keeps tossing wads of paper at her. Three times she says "stop doing that, it's upsetting me", but this apparently is not a deterent. So now she is really pissed, and I'm wondering what this guys problem is. Turns out he doesn't treat her that great (surprise). I guess the point of my rant is why would people want to stay with people that bring them down? Maybe it's a self esteem issue, I don't know.

You look like shit

I can't tell you how much I enjoy people I work with coming up to me and asking "Do you feel ok? You don't look so good. Did you work late last night?" There is nothing like being told you look like a bucket of shit to really start your day off right. How does one answer that? "Why yes, I do feel shitty and that reflects on my appearance. Thanks for noticing!"
